Airbrush Tattoo Stencils

Airbrush Tattoo Stencils

Since approximately 1998, temporary airbrush tattoos have been the choice for some individuals who have wanted to try a tattoo design without the pain of a real tattoo application. These became quite popular over the years, and developments on inks used, airbrush tools and techniques, as well as airbrush tattoo stencils, have made these tattoos look just like the real thing.

Tattoo art is usually dependent upon the tattoo artist’s steady hand and imagination, making the process long and tedious. One cannot really guarantee that all real tattoo applications are exactly alike. However, with the growing popularity of temporary airbrush tattoos, the options become endless as there are designs readily available in stencil form.

Stencils for temporary airbrush tattoos are available in two types – adhesive, and non-adhesive. The adhesive type is much easier to use and allows for freedom in the use of different colors since the artist has both hands free to change out colors on his airbrush. The non-adhesive type of stencil is quite challenging as it allows for limited colors, depending on the airbrush capacity for color combinations, since the artist uses only one hand for brushing while the other holds the stencil in place.

The adhesive airbrush tattoo stencils usually mold to the body’s natural contours, especially for areas of the body that have bone structure (ie. Shoulder blades, feet etc.) The outlines of the designs determine the authenticity of the tattoo design, sometimes making the design so flawlessly realistic that nobody can tell the temporary from a permanent tattoo. This is the look that many individuals try to achieve as this gives them an idea on what design they really want and what may possibly be converted into a real tattoo for life, if desired. Most times, temporary tattoos are designed specifically for their real tattoo look, without the hassle of having to keep them for more than two to three months at a time.

Non-adhesive stencils are used by tattoo artists basically for outlining alone sometimes, in order to achieve the actual design and then the filler colors can be made later on when the stencil is removed. This takes a great amount of artistic skill and experience, and usually well-established airbrush artists can get away with the proper use of these types of stencils, as they are more challenging to the artist’s creative prowess. Stencils, no matter what type may be used, are mainly to guide the artist and allow for faster results so as to allow the artist to accommodate more clientele in one given work day.

Airbrush tattoo stencils are usually available in most airbrush tattoo kits for first-time buyers or users. However, there are places online that sell airbrush tattoo stencils with many different designs depending upon buyer preference. For those who wish to start their own temporary airbrush tattoo businesses, there are many guidelines available over the internet.
